Thanks for the feedback :). Wasn't aware of the camera issue so thanks for pointing it out we could definitely add it at a later point.
As for the keyboard, we're aware of this issue and we've had several users comment on it. In addition to making the buttons work properly I think we will also add a "next" button on the top right of the screen so it is easier to continue and you don't have to 'get out' of the keyboard.
iTunes store should normally work, however our card issuer is performing emergency maintenance on their system which has affected online transactions since Saturday, I'm assuming you've tried it in this period?
We've just sent you an e-mail about it, sorry for not updating you earlier.
Budgeting would only work well for me if I was doing all my spending via Neat & you had visibility of my current account income and outgoings. We're a fair way off industry-wide API support but perhaps supporting statement upload or Yodlee-style scraping from other sources would do the trick?
I would be willing to pay a monthly account fee for a budgeting app that had sight of all my money movements and was able to give me easy and useful insights, maybe chatbot supported etc. The sheer amount of information you'd gather on an individual would likely be monetisable to the extent that you wouldn't need a monthly fee afterall.
@hybridE4t We have updated the system to add groceries as a category. The app icon for this new category is coming in the next release of iOS in the next few days, hence till then groceries category will show as miscellaneous.
@hybridE4t Good point. We'll enhance the app soon so that you can actually view historical spending analysis instead of just current week/month/year. Keen to hear which option is preferred: a rolling view or stats/analysis for previous periods on top of the current ones?
The first thing that we are doing (released this week) is show the user a confirmation screen after taking a picture of the receipt if we've successfully received the receipt + the time it takes for the top-up to reach the account, as we received many questions whether the receipt was received by us.
In-app list of past cash top-ups (based on receipts) is something we are working on and will be done soon.
We also want to show all top-ups once completed in the "income" tab of the app and send a notification, however for this is it's a bit more difficult to give an estimate of how long it will take. As you may know we are working with a partner that holds an HKMA SVF license. As the licensed partner, it means that they hold and handle our customer's funds and actually put the top up in your account. Currently they have not yet developed a system to tell us automatically and in real-time that it has been done which would be necessary for us to put in the app and send (real-time) notifications. It is something that is in progress but unfortunately cannot give an exact timeframe yet and it will take a while before this is ready.
You do not need HK residence or HKID, but if you don't have an HKID we require you to take a photo of your passport in the app.
At the moment we don't offer individual bank accounts to our users, whenever you make a transfer we require you to input your card number as a message so we can allocate the funds correctly.
If using a message is not possible because for example your employer cannot do this or your bank doesn't offer this function, it's still not a problem but in that case please inform us at email@example.com with all the details of the transfer. Especially if the transfer does not come from a bank account in your name it's important to inform us.
Neat Card works like a normal MasterCard, you can use it to pay the deposit or room rate in the hotel. However, Neat Card is are a prepaid card, you will need to have sufficient amount of money in the account for the hotel to do the authorization. The transaction will be shown on your app and will be taken from your balance temporarily.
So if the deposit is $1000, as long as I have over $1000 in my account, I should be able to pay with the Neat card? The $1000 will then be temporarily taken, and will be released back to me when I check-out. Correct?
The balance of the Neat card is in HKD. When I travel to Japan, for instance, the payment I make there will just be converted/exchanged automatically, right?
1). You will withdraw local currency. Also, not related to ATM but to overseas spending, always make sure when you are abroad and using the Neat card in a shop, if the cashier asks, make sure they charge you in local currency. That way, the MasterCard exchange rate will be used, which is a very competitive rate (market rate). If you say you want to be charged in HKD when you are overseas, the shop has some set exchange rates that are usually very bad.
2). Any cash machine with MasterCard logo, Jetco machines have this as well.
You can transfer money into Neat from any bank account around the world. At the moment we allow you to send money to other Neat users, but not yet to other bank accounts. This is, however, something we will add, as we understand it's an essential feature if you want to use Neat as your main account.
